Kristen's Field of Joy

One yogi mom's journey back to yoga, navigating life through breath, through stretch, through strength.

I’m Kristen. My story isn’t all that unique, especially to the Bay Area. Full time photo editor at a national magazine turned full time mama of three year old twin boys after a cross country move. My yoga practice that was full and vibrant before kids became anemic and just barely happened after them. With all of the transitions, lately any exercise has been limited to chasing kids at the playground, pushing the stroller up the hills, and running after a dog who keeps escaping our backyard. You’d think that I’d be in better shape.

I’ve tried a couple of studios since moving, but I can make a lot of excuses. I’ve been running and walking by myself, but I’m not great at being accountable to me. I’m too tired at night and still too tired in the early morning. I bet you have excuses too. But here’s the thing. I need the hour or sometimes two or three to be by myself in a room full of people and practice. I’m a firm believer that practice is the important part of yoga: the routine and the repetition.

This is my journey back to rediscovering the joy of practice, the yogi in myself and learning to love high plank. If you see me, say hi. And follow along!  At the very least, you won’t be bored.
